HOMESTEAD, Pa. -- Channel 11's Alan Jennings reported that a second-grader at Homestead Propel School was suspended after school officials said they found a pellet gun in the student's backpack on Feb. 3.

The principal of Homestead Propel School said the plastic pellet gun resembled a 9 mm semi-automatic gun, but was non-functional.

Superintendent Carol Wooten said the pellet gun was discovered when teachers heard students talking about.

Wooten said a letter was sent home to parents when the gun was found.
